Today, we held a program for international students to experience Japanese culture. First, they experienced Japanese calligraphy, where they wrote their own names in kanji characters on a fan as a souvenir. Next, in the tea ceremony room, the students of the tea ceremony club served Japanese sweets and powdered green tea while sitting on the floor. In the afternoon, all the participants dressed in Hakama (traditional Japanese dress) and enjoyed a traditional Japanese dance performance. At the end of the day, they danced in a circle to the tune of “Tankobushi” and enjoyed Japanese culture.

本日、留学生のみなさんに日本文化を体験していただくプログラムを実施しました。

先ずは本校教頭の指導により「書道」を体験し、団扇に自身の名前を漢字に創作して書いた作品を仕上げお土産にしました。
次に、作法室にて茶道部生徒のお点前により、正座をして和菓子と抹茶をいただきました。

午後は日本舞踊の師範である本校参与の直接指導により、全員袴姿の和装で、唱歌「春の小川」の曲に合わせて舞踊を楽しみました。

最後は輪になって炭鉱節を踊り、日本文化を堪能した一日となりました。
留学生引率の校長先生は、何よりも本校生徒の時と場をわきまえた行動こそが日本文化だと、立ち居振舞いに感銘を受けられたようでした。
